THREE SECONDS IN THE KEY is a full-length play for 7 or 8 actors, in which a woman and her son survive the mother's illness by watching basketball games on television together. Borrowing the bodies of these strong men, with the mother so ill and the boy so young, they somehow come to grips with love, mortality and being passionate fans of a team that's losing. One of the players of the New York Knicks comes out of the television and into the Mother's life, using tough love, basketball instruction, flirtation, prayer and inspiration to encourage her back into her body and equip her to fight for her life.
