Located in the Edmond J. Safra Campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Jewish National and University Library serves as the National Library for the State of Israel, and of the Jewish people, as well as the main research-level library in humanities of the Hebrew University. Originally established in Jerusalem in 1892 it has since then amassed the world’s largest repository of Judaica resources – books, periodicals and newspapers, manuscripts and personal archives, music, maps, microfilms, audio-visual and electronic materials. Entrance to the public is free, and the Library’s main catalog and its various digitization projects can be freely searched.
This critical mass of materials includes important sources relating to the Jewish theatre in general and Israeli theatre in particular, ranging from posters and programs, photographs, archival material, manuscripts, historical and biographical works, to scores and recordings of music written for the theatre.
